Taken
Liam Neeson is a Bad Ass Mo. Fo.

First, let me just say that Liam Neeson is badass, and I forgive him for being in Love Actually (because I know he snoops around my site). Taken was great. I mean a blend of the type of great you experience whilst watching Snakes on a Plane crossed with Transformers wrapped with a helping of good old fashioned snuggly moral.
I don’t want to say too much about the plot (weirdly enough, it’s still not out in America), but it was thoroughly entertaining. It follows the journey of a government protection agency worker, who man hunts the people that kidnapped his daughter. He faces the troubles of a corrupt government, and is soon made aware that his daughter becomes prime merchandise in the female sex trafficing industry. It is full of piles of Bourne styled action sequences, great electrocutions, car chases, Albanians & people trafficking.
This is more of a rave about how great I think Liam is, but his smooth narrator voice is the slickest thing on the planet. Maggie Grace plays his kidnapped daughter. Glad she didn’t speak so much, because she plays the same crying character she does in Lost. I was expecting Hurley to fall out of a tree and gobble her up.
I’ll shush the heck up now, but this is absolutely a great film to watch if you want a stack of fun for your eyes.
Oh, and just don’t plan on smuggling women if you’d rather not have your head kicked into your stomach by Liam Neeson (or sleeping with guys called Jean-Claude).

Agree 100% dude!
This has to be one of the most satisfying movies I’ve ever seen. As soon as He lands in Paris I’m put on the edge of my seat for the duration.
Good review.
What? It’s still not out in America?! I saw this back in September!
I just had a look at the full release listings on imdb and you’re right… What’s weirder still, it came out in France first, almost a year ago! By far one of the strangest release patterns I’ve ever seen.
But you’re completely right. This is an awesome film. Slightly annoying in places but made up with relentless action.
A+++++ would watch again.
@Dan:
It was thoroughly entertaining, and the perfect length

Yeah dude, I am really confused about that. I somehow had it on dvd in about October. Weird how it didn’t come out in the states if Batman’s badass Liam Neeson was in it!
I think it has something to do with the production company (Europa Corp) being French.
That certainly explains the early France release…
Perhaps the late US release is their way of sticking it to them for the “Freedom Fries” thing (et al) of yester-yester-yester-year.
Are there any Taken-not-in-America-yet support groups out there that I can call/join? Man, can’t wait to see it!
Brian: ThePirateBay ;)
Can I just say that this is not fair. (ok don’t slander me now) but it hasn’t came out in the US yet and I’ve not seen it … thinking about getting it using “other resources” because all I keep hearing is good stuff.
Now Pasquale has recommended it and I can’t hardly wait. Argh!
Well at least you liked it so that is a pretty safe bet that I’ll enjoy spending my well earned 8.50 for this flic.
I watched it again last night… that’s how much I love this movie.
In a very edgy spy voice “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.” - pure awesomeness!
