Sweeney Todd
Sweeney Todd was fun. Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor, and bought forth the dark and humorous character through to a tee. Though it’s a musical - and obviously a first stab at something of this calibur for Burton, you can forgive the weak vocals for the comedic value used in place. Probably the most disturbing and humorous scene would be the dropping of freshly killed corpses head first onto the floor below, down a trap door. The violence and gore is presented with no build up or anticipation, presenting it in an almost beautiful mockery of life’s value.
Bloodshed is refreshing, due to the dark and desaturated film treatment. As violent as it is, it’s so awesomely fun to watch, and laugh at the careless reactions of Sweeney and Mrs Lovette. I must add that the beginning of the film was ridiculously boring and slow- and Johnny’s vocals were uninspiring, but all is forgiven once he settles into his home on Fleet Street. His supporting cast makes this a joy to watch, including the likes of Helena Bohnam-Carter, Sasha Baron Cohen, Alan Rickman, and Tim Spall. Good cast, a bit slow to finish, but an awesome and fun film to watch.

I still need to see this, argh!
